PAMCA WIVC MENTORSHIP PROGRAMME

Reports to:

Programme Manager Capacity Building, Gender Main Streaming and Career Progression (PM-CB,GM&CP)

Reponsible for:

  1. To advance women’s role in VBD leadership through structured mentorship;
  2.  To promote gender equality in women in the field of VBD control; to support the building of women’s capacity through targeted training programs, effective science communication, and confidence building initiatives
  3. To strengthen the role of women in VBD control through policy and advocacy
  4. To promote the active engagement of non-professional women within grassroot communities in VBD control and elimination efforts.

Job Description:

This will include identifying, recruiting, orienting/training mentors, matching mentors with mentees, agreement of mentorship objectives, programme roll out and monitoring success. Mentors and Mentees will be competitively selected from a short-list of applicants based on a predetermined criterion. The mentorship period will be 12months.

Location:

The programme is only available to Women in Vector Control whose country of residence and citizenship is in Africa.

The mentorship period will be 12months

Job purpose:

PAMCA foresees mentorship as a key stepping stone in strengthening the role of women in vector control and for advancing their involvement in the leadership arena. The association would like to call out for applications for the mentorship programme either as mentor or a mentee.

Responsibilities:

The objectives of the WIVC Mentorship programme include:

  • To develop a structured and robust mentorship programme targeting African WIVC 
  • To promote personal and professional development through knowledge transfer from skilled women in VBD in Africa and the diaspora 
  • To empower and build confidence in the work done by WIVC

Key Perfomance Indicators:

  • To strengthen the role of women and build confidence in the work done by WIVC

Competencies:

Communicating and influencing–Adds Value :

Communicating in a way which is clear, concise, well structured, engaging, easily understood; ensuring people can clearly understand messages; networking and building relationships with mentee/mentors.

Skills Knowledge Experience:

  • Applications are welcome from women in vector control who are actively engaged in VBD control initiatives.
  • The programme is only available to Women in Vector Control whose country of residence and citizenship is in Africa.
