Dr. Oumou Kalsom Gueye Join PAMCA as WiVC Regional Coordinator for West Africa (WA) Region.

We are delighted to welcome Dr. Oumou kalsom Gueye to the WiVC Team as Regional Coordinator for West Africa (WA) Region. 

As Women in Vector Control (WIVC) Regional Coordinator for WA Region, Oumou leads and oversees the implementation of WIVC initiative programs in the WA Region including training opportunities, strategic partnerships & collaboration with different stakeholders.   

Prior to joining PAMCA, during her PhD, Oumou worked in collaboration with different research institutes such as the Centre for Research in Infectious Diseases (CRID) in Cameroon, the Institut Pasteur de Dakar, the Institut de Recherche pour le Développement (IRD) de Dakar, the Institut de Recherche en Science de la Santé (IRSS) in Burkina Faso and the Centre for Applied Entomology and Parasitology in UK.

Dr. Oumou kalsom Gueye is a medical entomologist. Her research interest includes developing new vector control strategies to replace or complete chemical control with a focus on malaria vectors. She holds a PhD and master's degree in medical Entomology and a License in Biology obtained from the Faculty of Sciences and Technics of the Cheikh Anta Diop University (UCAD) in Dakar, Senegal. 

Oumou has won several scholarships; her master was funded by the Malaria Capacity Development Consortium (MCDC) grant while her PhD fellowship was funded by the Malaria Research Capacity Development in West and Central Africa (MARCAD). She was later awarded a postdoctoral fellowship in the Malaria and Neglected Tropical Disease Research Capacity Development in West and Central Africa (MARCAD) Plus project where her research was focused on the theme “Determination of the reproductive behavior, introgression and microbiota composition of An. coluzzii and An. gambiae species in Senegal: Innovative tools for malaria vector control in Senegal”.  She is currently serving as a Research Assistant at the Laboratoire d’Écologie Vectorielle et Parasitaire (LEVP) at UCAD.โ€ฏ

We are thrilled to have Oumou onboard and look forward to the pivotal contributions she will make towards the implementation of WIVC initiative programs in WA and beyond.
