Dr. El Hadji Amadou Niang Elected as the New RBM VCWG Co-Chair!
We are happy to announce that Dr. El Hadji Amadou Niang (Acting ED, PAMCA) is elected as the new Co-Chair of the Vector Control Working Group (VCWG), succeeding Justin McBeath (IVCC) who served for two terms.
Dr. Niang is a Senior Medical Entomologist, Senior lecture at Cheikh Anta Diop University (Dakar, Senegal). He is also currently serving as the acting Executive Director of the Pan-African Mosquito Control Association (PAMCA), and prior to that he has worked as a consultant for WHO, UNDP and several NGOs in several sub-Saharan countries.
El Hadji commits himself to saving lives and reducing the vector-borne diseases burden in the continent by helping to nurture a critical mass of African problem-solvers to solve Africa’s health and developmental problems, engaging equitably the female and male workforce to tackle VBD, strengthening local governments and reinforcing national and international partnership.
The handover officially took place on 15th April 2024 during the opening session of the RBM VCWG annual meeting in Kigali, Rwanda.
