Dr. MAMADOU B. COULIBALY, A CHAMPION FOR MALARIA CONTROL HAS PASSED AWAY !

With great sadness and heavy hearts, the PAMCA Mali Chapter announces the death of its Chairperson, Dr. Mamadou B. Coulibaly. Dr. Coulibaly passed away on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, after a brief illness.

Dr. Coulibaly was a champion for malaria control and served as the Deputy Director of the Entomology Department at the Malaria Research and Training Center at the University of Bamako, the Principal Investigator at Target Malaria Mali, and Head of Entomology at the International Center of Excellence in Research in Mali. More recently he led efforts to establish an African Center of Excellence in molecular engineering and was instrumental in delivering training to hundreds of African scientists on gene drives, a novel technology for vector control.

The entire PAMCA Team offers their sincere condolences to his family, friends, colleagues, and collaborators on this sad news. What a great loss to PAMCA and the wider malaria control community. On a personal level, may we all remember Dr. Coulibaly’s contributions in the fight against malaria on the continent and his warm and infectious smile. We at PAMCA will continue to uphold his legacy.

MAY HIS SOUL REST IN ETERNAL PEACE!
